Obituary: Gerard Bruneau, 1922-2011

Gerard Bruneau, resident of Villa Beausejour in Falher, passed away on March 7, 2011 in McLennan Hospital at the age of 88 years.

Gerard was born on June 15, 1922 at Ste. Elizabeth, Manitoba. At a very young age along with his parents Napoleon Bruneau and Candide Fillion and siblings, he moved to Alberta. They lived in Falher for a few years and then moved to Jean-Cote.

He married Gabrielle Gariepy on August 8, 1944 and were blessed with five children. Gerard and Gabrielle opened and farmed their land in Jean Cote, as well as livestock.

Due to health reasons, they sold their farm in 1976 and moved to Falher for their retirement years. Gerard and Gabrielle enjoyed camping, fishing, visiting with family and friends and playing cards. They also went on a few trips to such places as St. Jean Baptist, MB & Kelowna and Victoria, BC.

Gerard is survived by one son Richard, four daughters Yvonne Chaput (Robert), Lucille Leclerc, Claire Leclerc (Norman), Eveline Roy (Victor), as well as one brother Marcelin (Estelle), two sister- in-laws Lorraine Gariepy and Angeline Bruneau, 13 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren and 1 great- great grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife Gabrielle, son-in-law Raymond Leclerc and daughter-in-law Vivian Bruneau, his parents Napoleon and Candide Bruneau, six brothers Louis (Gabrielle), Albert (Emilia), Alcide (Antoinette), Emile (Beatrice), Maurice (Dora), Arthur and two sisters Florence and Marguerite (Octave) Chailler, also sisters in-law Gertrude (Rosaire) Nairon, Claire (Richard) Owens and brother in-law Rodolphe Gariepy.

Funeral services for the late Gerard Bruneau were held March 12, 2011 at the Ste. Anne Parish, Falher, AB with Msgr. Charles Lavoie officiating. Cross bearer was Gilbert Roy and Pall Bearers were Roger Chaput, Dwayne Leclerc, Ronald Leclerc, Gavin Bruneau, Andre Bruneau and Denis Roy.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Chapel of Memories Peace River.
