Violet Beatrice Carpenter passed away in Sicamous, B.C. on March 7, 2009 at the age of 98 years.

She was born at Desjarlais Crossing, AB, to Charles and Anna Tillapaugh on Nov. 1, 1910. She was the fourth child in a family of eight children.

Violet will be lovingly remembered by family and friends as an inspiration to all who knew her. She was an amazing woman who cherished her family and friends.

Very much loved and an inspiration to all who knew her she leaves to mourn: one surviving sibling, Louella Farrell, of Half Moon Bay, B.C.; children Dean (Tina) Franklin, of Donalda, AB; Gladys (Don) Campbell, of High Prairie; Bill (Evelyn) Franklin, of Vernon, B.C.; Katherine Longman, of Courtney, B.C.; Gary (Erika) Carpenter, of Coleman, AB; And Suzanne Carpenter (Grady) of Sicamous; 22 grandchildren including Don and Gary Carmicheal; Dale, Brian Campbell and Rhonda Rich; Herb, Irene, Yvonne, Franklin and Marilyn Ironstand; Patricia and Shawn Franklin; Roni Mayhew; Rory and Jason Longman; Charlie, Glen, Sandi, and Gavin Carpenter; Benjamin and Bretton MacDonald; 26 great-grandchildren, two great- great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Violet was predeceased by: her first husband, Herb Franklin, in 1947; second husband, Glen Carpenter, in 1979; sons Charles Franklin in 1955, and George Franklin in 1980; grandsons Clifford Franklin and Troy Franklin.

Violet will always be remembered for her great hospitality, always ready with a pot of homemade soup and her famous bread and cinnamon buns, for anyone who entered her home. We will all truly miss her.

As Violet was a long-time resident of the Enilda and High Prairie area, it was her wish to be brought back to High Prairie for interment. The family will have a time of fellowship and sharing of memories on May 23, at 2 p.m. in the Enilda Hall. A celebration of Violet’s life will be held in Sicamous July 4.

In lieu of flowers, friends who desire may make a memorial donation directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
