Christmas and New Year’s were fairly calm for McLennan RCMP.
Sgt. Allan Paterson says the biggest issue was continued incidents of break-and-enters at Winagami Lake cottages.
“All in all, it was a relatively quiet holiday season,” Paterson says.
From the period of Dec. 20 to Jan, 1, the detachment responded to 48 calls with eight of those related to the break-and-enters at the cottages.
“This overall number is up slightly from previous years,” Paterson says.
“Outside of the break-and-enters, no significant concerning trends were noted in the calls for service.”
Remaining calls ranged from well-being checks to motor vehicle collisions and driving complaints, none of which involved injuries or deaths.
Police also responded to false alarms at residences and businesses caused by cold weather.
Paterson reminds motorists to drive safely according to road and weather conditions, which keeps other drivers on the road safe.
