Art show added to High Prairie Light-Up calendar

by | Oct 19, 2024 | Schools

High Prairie E.W. Pratt High School Grade 11, Art 20 student Serena Mearon created a pencil crayon, Halloween image too cute to be scary, using a colour wheel scheme. Her assignment was based on the Halloween holiday, exhibits at the art show in late November and December will have a Christmas theme.

High Prairie Light-Up celebrations Nov. 29 will include a Christmas-themed art show at the High Prairie Museum.

Museum manager Darlene Adams says the students at High Prairie E.W. Pratt High School will provide the art.

“Teacher Rhonda Lund is going to have them do Christmas-themed art,” says Adams.

“The show will open the night of Light-Up, 5-8 p.m.”

The show will also be on display all of December.

Lund is pleased the students will have the opportunity to show their skills.

“Darlene has asked for 30-40 pieces,” says Lund.

“I have that number of students actively involved in Art class and school in general, so the show will feature the works of 25-35 students,” she adds.

The theme will have a Christmas “vibe” with wintery starry nights, sparkling snowflakes and northern lights, as well as other works all-about Christmas, Lund adds.

E.W. Pratt art is featured in South Peace News most weeks during the school year.

The museum now gives the public to see the art first-hand.

The show is free to attend.
