Members serving on the Village of Berwyn council will be getting paid a bit more in the new year to the tune of $2,500.
At its Dec. 12 meeting, council reviewed its remuneration policy regarding pay for the mayor and council, which includes allowances for mileage, meals, and other expenses.
After debate, council approved the increase effective Jan.1, 2025.
The adjustment brings Berwyn’s compensation and allowances in line with those of other municipalities of a similar size. Even with the slight increase in remuneration, costs for council will be lower in 2025 after agreeing to move to one meeting a month instead of two.
The last review of the remuneration policy took place in 2020.
