Lesser Slave Lake MLA Scott Sinclair heard several concerns from residents from the High Prairie region during an open house he hosted Oct. 24 at the High Prairie Municipal Library.
About 15 people attended, he says.
“We confirmed about three concerns in the community,” says Sinclair, serving his first term as MLA, elected May 29, 2023.
Services at High Prairie Health Complex, a helipad, health care, crime and attracting more government funding for the region were the top issues.
“I’m working on getting a helipad at the hospital,” Sinclair says.
Crime, public safety and addictions recovery are other concerns of the citizens.
“We had positive discussion around pooling resources to access more provincial and federal funding for the region,” Sinclair says.
He was pleased with the turnout, comments and discussion despite the short notice of the event.
“I’ll do this more frequently,” Sinclair says.
“We’ll probably to it in November.”
He adds he plans to give more notice to resident for the next open house in High Prairie.
