Court Docket – Husband will serve time during weekends

by | Sep 23, 2016 | News

H.P. court docket
Sept. 12, 2016
Judge D.R. Shynkar

A High Prairie man will spend about one month in jail for several breaches of court orders.
Trevor Lee Henry was handed a global sentence of 30 days in jail when he appeared in High Prairie provincial court Sept. 12.
He failed to comply with an undertaking on four counts for being with his common law wife in her residence and intoxicated.
“You can’t have contact with her,” Judge D.R. Shynkar stresses.
Two of those breaches were for being in the residence.
“A second and third time he’s with her in her residence, I’m asking for jail time,” Crown prosecutor Haydn Shook says.
Despite the breaches, Henry says they want to stay together.
“We’ll maintain a relationship after this,” says Henry, who will serve his sentence on weekends.
“Although I have alcohol problems, I’m seeking to change.”
When not in custody, Henry will be placed on probation until his time is served.

Brent Edward Lowe, 28, of High Prairie, was sentenced to 45 days in jail, with credit for nine days served, for assault and breach of probation.
He assaulted his common law wife on Sept. 8 when he dropped her on the floor because their baby wouldn’t stop crying, the Crown says.
Lowe also choked her but she did not suffer any injuries.
He was also intoxicated at the time, against probation order.
“You got the break last time,” the judge says.
“Choking people is extremely dangerous; bad things can happen fast.”

Cole Harvey Hansen, 21, of Wembley, formerly of High Prairie, was sentenced to probation for six months for two counts of theft under $5,000.
He stole three bottles of liquor from the Liquor Depot on May 16, says the Crown.

“It was a chicken he stole,” duty counsel Harry Jong says.
Hansen plans to take treatment for alcohol.

His breath sample recorded 190 mg.
