A Driftpile woman charged with two robberies in March will spend more than three years behind bars.
Jodi Ann Bellerose, 39, was sentenced to three years and six months in jail after appearing in High Prairie provincial court Sept. 19.
Bellerose was sentenced after pleading guilty to two counts of robbery and one count of wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence.
“The starting point for robbing convenience stores is three years,” said Judge D.R. Shyn- kar.
“She has admitted guilt very early, which is to her benefit.”
Bellerose was one of two women charged in two robberies at gas stations and a theft on March 23.
She was remorseful for her actions.
“She wants to apologize to the community for being so stupid,” lawyer Harry Jong said.
He confirmed that the mask was a scarf covering her face.
The suspects entered the Esso gas station in High Prairie and stole a quantity of cigarettes early in the morning, said Crown prosecutor Haydn Shook.
He added the two women were seeking money to support their drug habits.
A couple of hours later at the same gas station, two women entered the store armed with knives. They took a quantity of cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the premises.
The third incident took place just before 10 p.m. the same evening at the Shell gas station. The woman fled the store upon obtaining an undisclosed amount of money and cigarettes.
Jana Marie Eileen Toner, 33, the co-accused, is scheduled to go to trial Jan. 10. She is charged with two counts of theft under $5,000 and one count each of robbery, wearing a disguise during a crime, possession of stolen property, and possession of an illegal substance.
