Dolphins qualify 25 for provincials

More than 20 members of the High Prairie Dolphins swim club have advanced to the provincial summer swimming championships Aug 14-16 in Edmonton.

The Dolphins finish in second place in team standings at the regional swimming championships Aug. 8-9 in Grande Prairie with 660 points, with Grande Prairie first with 670 and Slave Lake third with 654.

A total of 25 Dolphins qualified for provincials, head coach Larkin Stokes said.

Swimmers who finish first or second at the regionals automatically qualify for the provincials

However, many time swimmers who placed third also qualified for the provincials through the wildcard process.

Following is a rundown of individual results:

Elaine Binneman in girl’s six-and-under finished second in the 25-m freestyle, the 25-m backstroke, the 50-m freestyle and the 50-m backstroke.

Sloan Chapman in girl’s 13-14 finished first in the 200-m individual medley and second in the 50-m butterfly.

Abbie Cottingham in girl’s 18-and-over finished first in the 50-m breaststroke.

Andie Cox in girl’s 8-and-under finished first in the 25-m freestyle, the 25-m backstroke, the 50-m freestyle and the 100-m individual medley.

Nate Cox in boy’s 9-10 finished first in the 25-m backstroke, the 50-m freestyle, the 50-m backstroke and the 100-m individual medley.

Mischa Deering in girl’s 18-and-over finished first in the 50-m butterfly, 100-m individual medley, the 100-m breaststroke and second in the 200-m individual medley relay.

Cohen Demeule in boy’s 12-and-under finished second in the 400-m freestyle and in boy’s 11-12 finished second in the 200-m freestyle.

Lila Demeule in girl’s 8-and under finished first in the 50-m backstroke and third in the 25-m butterfly.

Benjamin Donnison in boy’s 10-and-under finished first in the 200-m freestyle and in boy’a 9-10 finished second in the 100-m freestyle.

Carys Graham in girl’s 13-14 finished second in the 200-m freestyle and in girl’a 14-and-under finished second in the 400-m freestyle.

Emme Graham in girl’s 9-10 finished first in the 25-m backstroke and the 50-m backstroke and second in the 50-m freestyle and in girl’s 10-and-under finished second in the 200-m freestyle.

Quinsley Guerin in girl’s six-and-under finished third in the 50-m freestyle.

Jemma Hesse in girl’s 15-17 finished first in the 50-m freestyle, the 50-m breaststroke and the 100-m breaststroke.

Jonah Hesse in girl’s 11-12 finished third in the 25-m breaststroke and the 200-m individual medley.

Anna Perry in girl’s 8-and-under finished second in the 50-m backstroke.

Ariana Rotenburger in girl’s 18-and-over finished first in the 50-m freestyle and the 400-m freestyle and second in the 100-m freestyle and the 50-m backstroke.

Harlan Rotenburger in boy’s 15-17 finished first in the 200-m individual medley, second in the 200-m freestyle and 400-m freestyle and third in the 50-m freestyle.

MunMun Sharkawi in girl’s 15-17 finished first in the 100-m freestyle, second in the 100-m freestyle, the 100-m backstroke and the 200-m individual medley.

Charlotte Simms in girl’s 8-and-under finished third in the 25-m breaststroke.

Zaylee Veniot in girl’s 9-10 finished third in the 100-m freestyle and the 200-m freestyle.

Keya Willier in girl’s15-17 finished first in the 400-m freestyle, second in the 50-m freestyle and the 50-m butterfly and third in the 200-m freestyle.
