Many pro-active promotions will be featured at the Driftpile Back-to-School Health and Safety Fair set for Aug. 23.
Nine agencies and organizations will be on display at the event sponsored by Driftpile Health Services at Driftpile Community Hall from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
“It will be great information for families to have,” says Robin Giroux, one of the organizers.
Usually students receive a backpack with health safety information.
“We want children and students to know of their support teams,” Giroux says.
“Bus safety is a big issue in our area because the community doesn’t have any school zones besides the school, and many of our students are picked up along the highway where traffic travels from 80-100 kilometres per hour.”
Information on nutrition, bullying, drugs, playground safety, internet safety, hygiene and head lice will be offered.
Blue Heron Head Injury Society will also provide information and demonstrations.
