The North Country Fair is not the only major celebration near Driftpile in June.

The Driftpile Powwow rolls into the community June 24-26 with thousands expected to attend the annual First Nations celebration.

Grand Entries are scheduled for 7 p.m. on June 24, 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 25, and 1 p.m. and June 26.

Teepees are welcome as are all craft and food vendors.

Of course, the big attractions will be the drummers and dancers. The host drum is the Whitefish Juniors. A top prize of $10,000 will be given away during the drum competition.

Various prizes in several dance categories will be awarded in juniors, teens, junior adult, senior adult, men’s and women’s golden age, men’s buckskin and tiny tots divisions.

Driftpile’s own Stan Isadore and Clifford Whitford will be MCs.

Everyone attending is being asked to bring a non-perishable food item to support the High Prairie and District Food Bank.

Concession space is available and security will be provided on location.
