Ken Melnyk,
Fire Chief,
Town of High Prairie
Once again, the High Prairie Volunteer Fire Department is looking for recruits. We need your help.
Do you know that 80 per cent of all volunteer firefighters in Alberta are people just like you and that 97 per cent of all fire departments in Alberta are run by volunteers like you.
A bank manager, a mechanic, a carpenter, a teacher, a preacher or a government employee, these are the members of the High Prairie Fire Department who are going to respond to emergency calls. These are the “ordinary people doing extraordinary things”, and you can become part of this team of heroes.
Being a volunteer firefighter isn’t for everyone. But just because you can’t make a commitment to becoming a fully trained firefighter doesn’t mean we don’t need your help. Get in touch with your local fire hall to see how you can get involved.
Protecting the lives and the safety of the people of High Prairie and area is a job of tremendous importance. Every day across this country, men and women like you face terrible dangers to protect the lives and safety of their fellow neighbours. There is not a community in Canada that has not been touched by the dedication, commitment, and courage of those who go beyond the call of duty to aid those in distress. Why don’t you consider becoming one of these awesome people?
Consider a new opportunity to help others, to grow, to test oneself.
Please stop in at the fire hall or go online and print off an application and become part of a well-respected team. Our Website is hpfd.ca or you can call [780] 523-3525 for more information.
