Greetings from Joussard School. My name is David Giroux and for the month of November, I will be the reporter, collecting information from our school and sending it to the South Peace News.
I am happy to announce that everyone had a great Halloween and got enormous amounts of goodies! This was an exciting event, but all of the adults are glad that it comes only once a year!
We also had a wonderful Family Night carving pumpkins and eating popcorn. We are thankful to all of the people who came. We always like to see our families in our school.
In kindergarten, our students are learning so much. They know how to raise their hands before they speak and to sit quietly when the teacher is talking. The students are learning to recognize alphabet letters and the sounds that go with them. In Math, they are learning about shapes.
Our students in Grade 1 are also learning lots every day. They are reading and writing now and also getting pretty good at adding and subtracting and skip counting by twos.
Students in Grade 2 have been learning all about how to use a laptop and are happy to announce that they are having a great time using them to practice Math skills on IXL.
In Grade 3, our students have been learning all about data analysis in Math. This sounds rather impressive! They are starting a project using paper mache’ in Social Studies.
Grade 4 students have been busy with Math, learning about fractions and denominators. In Social Studies, they are learning mapping skills.
The students in Grade 5 are always busy with their teacher, Spencer Smith. In Language Arts, they are learning how to show, rather than tell information. In Physical Education, they are happily learning how to play basketball.
In my class, Grade 6, we have been learning all about the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. We are discovering that we live in a fabulous country!
That’s our news for this week. Please check in with me next week.

Raylene Bellerose, a Grade 1 student, makes a gorgeous little bee!

The family that carves pumpkins together, stays together! The entire family of Tanya and Marvin Okimaw and children, Keisha, Terrance and Avory attended Joussard School’s traditional pumpkin carving family night and had a wonderful time together.
