Smoky River Family and Community Support Services will be hosting a Heart Health Presentation on Jan. 17, and people from the area are urged to attend one of the two seminars.
“Jessica Hadfield will be presenting on Heart Health specifically aimed at seniors, although not limited to, in Eaglesham and Girouxville,” says FCSS community program coordinator Anita Portsmouth.
“Jessica is a pharmacist and the owner of Falher IDA Drug Store, McLennan IDA Drug Store as well as other drug stores in Northern Alberta,” she adds.
The presentation in Eaglesham will be held at 10 a.m. at the Seniors Centre and at 2 p.m. in Girouxville at the Club Etoille.
“The presentation is approximately one hour long, and Jessica will be on hand to answer questions afterwards for a time,” says Portsmouth.
Portsmouth explains FCSS has been trying to expand its horizons, offering educational presentation for people in the area to help increase their knowledge about things that could or will directly affect them.
“We have decided to try bringing in presentations for Eaglesham and the Falher/McLennan area for seniors in the area,” Portsmouth notes.
“Each month we will be looking at a different presentation to provide information and resources for seniors, low income and others.”
In November, FCSS hosted a presentation regarding the Smoky River transportation system in Eaglesham. They also held a presentation on Smoky River FCSS programming in Eaglesham in December.
“In February, we are looking at hosting a presentation from Smoky River Adult Learning about online safety in Eaglesham and Smoky River area,” she says.
“We invite those interested in these types of presenters to reach out to us if they have any specific presentations they would like to see.”
