HPE Reporters
Hi! This is Abby Arams and Zachary Grace with this week’s South Peace News report.

Grade 3J has been checking out sound, how it’s made and how to keep our ears safe. They have been making poppies and learning about the importance of Remembrance Day.

Grade 5C students finished their ‘Ted Harrison’ painting last week. They are now hanging on the wall in HPE Art Walk. If you have the chance, check out their wonderful art work.

Grade 5C students will be having breakfast in England on Nov. 18. The students are coming to school at 7:00 a.m. Yes, we said 7 a.m.! It will be about 3 p.m. in England. After their visit, the students are going to have breakfast made by teacher Brenda Coulombe and EA Laura St. Cyr.

Grade 5S has delved into Canadian history as they begin their new social unit. Their finished project will be a journal from the perspective of a group that has contributed to Canadian identity.

Grade KM is learning about making healthy choices and working on a Chicka Chicka Boom Boom unit.

Grade 1S has been doing some awesome games to practice skip counting and learn numbers up to 100.

Grade 2L is practicing dodgeball because next Tuesday they are going to beat Grade 6PI!

Grade 6M students enjoyed presenting their Utopias, their own make believe country, to their classmates. They shared their country’s laws, Charter Of Rights, democracy. Each student explained how wonderful it would be to live in their country.

In Grade 4D, students are finishing their bug house poem and menu. In Math, they are starting multiplication and division. In Science, they are learning about hazardous waste.
Remembrance Day Assembly

The Grade 5 teachers and students would like to thank all the Veterans and family members who attended our special Remembrance Day Assembly on Nov. 9. The teachers would like to thank all the staff who helped make our assembly such a great success.
Christmas Shoeboxes

For the next two weeks, the Grade 5 students will be collecting items for the Christmas Shoeboxes.
Students will be teaming up with the other High Prairie schools to collect and fill as many shoeboxes as possible. The filled boxes are sent to children in Third World countries. They hope to fill as many boxes and bring as many smiles to as many children’s faces as possible.
New items that we are looking for include: brushes, combs, toothbrushes, hair clips, small toys [no weapon or war toys. Please], socks, crayons, colouring books, notebooks, pencils, pens, etc.
Thanks once again for your continued support in helping our students learn to give to others.
Book Fair volunteer opportunities

We need you! Please consider the following as a volunteer:
* Your primary job is to assist shoppers and keep book fair projects products stocked and organized.
* Don’t be shy! Offer to help shoppers find books and other products.
* Look over the book fair highlights flyer to become familiar with the books and products. Walk around the fair to see if it’s organized.
* Encourage friends, neighbours, and relatives to visit the book fair and family event.
Please call Penny at [780] 523-4531 if you are available to work a shift during the book fair. The success of the book fair depends upon the availability of our volunteers! We thank you for your time!
Best Seat In the House

We will be selling tickets for “The Best Seat in the House” for our annual Christmas concert. You can purchase these tickets during the Student Led Conferences Nov. 22-23. If you win, you get to sit up front on a comfy sofa and watch the Christmas concert from the best seat in the house!
Thanks for your support!

Photo retakes are Nov. 17.
Breakfast For Learning
Students who have not had breakfast are funded through a grant from the Breakfast for Learning Foundation and school fundraising efforts.
Another way we fund this program is through the Freson Bros. IGA Super Saver Stamps so donations of stamps are greatly appreciated, as are donations of cash and food.
Community volunteers are needed to help with this program by serving food and supervising students. Please contact the school if you can help out during the 8:20-8:50 a.m. time period. Thank You!
Have a great week and check in with us next week to see what’s happening at HPE!
