Hi! This is Joshua Strebchuk from Grade 5C with this week’s South Peace News report.
The Grade 5 students will be creating a biography of one of their grandparents. During the Christmas holidays, each student will be interviewing either a grandparent, great aunt, or great uncle. The idea is to interview a relative that is at least two generations older than the student.
When the Grade 5 students return in January they will create a biography of the relative they interviewed. The student will have the choice between four different formats to create the biography. They will then present it to their class.
Grade 5S has learned a lot of Canadian history these past few weeks. They have been researching the history immigration groups to Canada. Their final project be a journal from the perspective of that historical group.
The Grade 5 students will be presenting their journals on Dec. 13.
In Grade 4W, students are practicing their writing skills by writing a friendly letter to Santa with a twist. They are writing from the perspective of a character from a show, movie, or book.
Building multiplication skills is a focus for students in Grade 4. In January, they will start their Little Green Thumbs garden. Stay tuned for more details.
In Grade 3J students are the Ninjaneers! They are a building and design testing team. Bridges, buildings, parks, you name it, they will build it!
Grade 1s are so happy that it is finally December. They have many fun activities ahead and they get to go skating times this month.
Grade 5C had a great time visiting with their friends in England. Twenty students showed up at 7 a.m. to meet with the students from England.
Both sides asked and answered lots of questions, including. “Why are you Canadians wearing your pajamas?”
After the meeting, EA Laura St Cyr and teacher Brenda Coulombe fed the students breakfast. The students had so much fun that 5C will be meeting with England again in the New Year.
Have a great week and check in with us next week to see what’s happening at HPE!
