Hello once again from Joussard School. This is your friendly reporter, Diamond, bringing you our news!
Our kindergarten students report that they have been learning about three dimensional shapes in math lately and have been following the life cycles of butterflies in science. The students are also getting ready for their big graduation ceremony next Wednesday. They are getting very excited about this!
In Grade 1, our students have been learning all about healthy eating and have tested their knowledge by making smoothies out of only healthy ingredients. They were delicious!
Grade 2 students have been finishing up their work as authors and illustrators of books like those of Barbara Reid. They also report having lots of fun building an obstacle course.
In Grade 3, the students have been learning all about high jump in P.E. We have some pretty good jumpers in this school!
Students in Grade 4 are enjoying acting out the fairy tales that they wrote. They are demonstrating good writing and acting skills through one project!
In Grade 5, our students report that they are learning to turn boring sentences into extraordinary ones. This will help to make their stories much more interesting!
And in Grade 6, our students have been working hard to do their very best on their Provincial Achievement Tests.
They will be glad when these are over! They are also preparing for their farewell ceremony which will be held next week.
Our school is very proud to announce that we brought in $2,597 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation during our recent Jump Rope for Heart event. Our students worked hard to canvass our feeder communities and our communities came up great with donations to this worthy cause.
We also had a great and very fun sports day last week. The school field was pretty wet, so we had to do many of our activities inside. But it was fun anyway and we learned that we are quite a competitive lot here when it comes to the tug-of-war.
That’s it for this week. Please read my last report for the year next week.

Top fund raisers Syara Brassard, left, and Addyson Brassard enjoy the unique scooters that they won from Jump Rope for Heart.

It wouldn’t be a sports day without the traditional three-legged race. Good thing we have a big school so that Kendra Cunningham, left, and Eniko Calliou have space to run.

Just a little harder! Teacher Erin O’Grady puts great effort into her tug-of-war against a Grade 5 student at Joussard School’s sports day. The student won!
