Residents in Kinuso can expect more enforcement of parking laws in residential areas during the coming months.
Big Lakes County agreed at its July 13 meeting to send its current parking bylaw to the RCMP and request increased enforcement.
After being asked, public works foreman Vic Abel told council it had a parking bylaw. He read it to council.
“So we have it,” said Kinuso Councillor Ken Killeen.
“We’ll have to email it to the cops in Faust [and High Prairie],” said CAO Bill Kostiw.
Concerns over parking only apply to parking in residential areas. Concerns have arisen that big trucks and/or recreational vehicles are parking along streets.
“Some are parking for three weeks,” said Killeen.
It is against the current bylaw to park in the same area for such a long time.
“If we have a bylaw, get [police] out there,” said Killeen.
The enforcement of the bylaw does not apply to parking in commercial areas of the hamlet.
