Two 20-year-old men charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of a male in High Prairie last summer are set to next appear in three weeks to set trial dates.
Dakota C. Anderson, of Gift Lake, and Jesse Prestly Laboucan, of Atikameg, were ordered to return on May 30 in High Prairie provincial court when they appeared May 2.
Both will return to schedule preliminary inquiries.
“We’re looking for trial dates, so we can schedule preliminary inquiries,” Crown prosecutor Haydn Shook says.
Both men appeared on closed-circuit television, with Anderson at the Peace River Correctional Centre and Laboucan at the Edmonton Remand Centre.
They are charged in the shooting death of Ryan Joseph Ellefson on July 29, 2015.
Ellefson was found unconscious outside an Esso gas station and convenience store on July 29 in the early morning and later died in hospital.
