At its meeting Aug. 28, Grimshaw town council approved a motion to replace current lighting at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex with LED lights in the amount of $98,640.
The project will be funded through the capital reserves and once completed, a rebate will be provided by the Alberta government from the Municipal Climate Change Action Plan’s Community Energy Conservation Program.
Switching to LED lighting will result in energy savings for years to come.
Council approved a motion to purchase a new compressor for the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex after one of the two compressors in the arena failed in August.
The new compressor has been ordered and was expected to be installed by Sept. 6.
Currently, the arena is operating with one compressor, which limits the number of floods.
