The deaths of two young people at Whitefish River, their lives just starting, has shocked and stunned not just Whitefish, not just the region, but our entire province and more.
But not only are we shocked and stunned. We are also deeply saddened.
These days, we read and hear too much about violence around the world. We learn so much of it is senseless, that it seems to have no real reason.
A bout of jealousy? A moment of anger? A chance meeting on a highway, leading to a case of road rage, then confrontation, then death? If these are reasons, they are not good reasons. Most of us know better. Much, much better.
In time, we hope what happened in Whitefish River will be learned. In time, we hope that justice will be served.
Meanwhile, it is with tears and heavy hearts we share with all our communities in extending our sincere and heartfelt condolences to the friends and families of Cory Grey and Dylan Laboucan. Your great loss is a great loss for us all.
