The first of the official welcome signs for Big Lakes County was erected in October. Eights signs will be located at the highway entrances of the county in the first two weeks of November, followed by the welcome signs to the hamlets. Each sign is made of acrylic stucco finish with stone finish on the base and columns with recessed white reflective lettering for the names. Highway signs measure eight feet high by 13 feet wide and located on a landscaped mound. Signs for the hamlets measure five-and-a-half feet high by 10 feet wide. The municipality became Big Lakes County in April 2015. The M.D. of Big Lakes was incorporated Jan.1, 1995.
