Stolen property believed to be from the High Prairie and Valleyview areas has been returned to their rightful owners after a traffic stop Jan. 25.

Whitecourt RCMP laid several charges against Bradley Gordon Duff, 39, of Whitecourt, in connection with a traffic stop Jan. 15 at about 9:30 a.m. says a RCMP news release.

“There are still several items that Whitecourt members have not be able to locate the owners, which are suspected to be from the High Prairie and Valleyview area,” says Const. Julie-Ann Strilaiff, public information officer for Peace Regional RCMP.

Whitecourt RCMP urges citizens from those areas to take a look through their properties to ensure no break-and-enters are not reported.

Police are particularly seeking the owner of a stolen helmet as show in the photo above.

Anyone who recognizes the helmet is requested to phone Whitecourt RCMP at (780) 778-5454 or local police.

“If you have been a victim of property crime in the region, please report it to your local RCMP and provide serial numbers and descriptions of items as best as you can,” Strilaiff says.

Duff was stopped driving a truck with a licence plate that were both stolen from the Edmonton area.

Duff was charged with four counts of possession of a firearm cross-bow, prohibited weapon, restricted weapon, prohibited device, any ammunition or and explosive device while prohibited, two counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle and two counts of operating a motor vehicle while prohibited.

He was also charged with possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition without a licence, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, refusing to comply with demand for impaired, operating a motor vehicle while being pursued, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, fraudulent concealment and operating a vehicle without insurance.

Anyone with information on the incident is requested to phone Whitecourt RCMP at (780) 778-5454 or local police.

If you wish to remain anonymous, phone Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8377 (TIPS), online P3TIPS.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store.
