A preliminary inquiry will soon be set for a man charged with the second-degree murder of an Atikameg man last fall.
Arlen Chase Chali- foux, 18, appeared in High Prairie provincial court May 30 via closed-circuit television from Peace River Correctional Centre. The preliminary inquiry was proposed by his lawyer through duty counsel Vilma Mydliar.
However, Judge D.R. Shykar wanted to determine whether one or two days would be needed, along with a pre-trial conference.
Chalifoux, who will next appear June 13, was charged with the death of a 35-year-old man Nov. 10. Police responded to a call at an Atikameg home on Nov. 10 around 3 a.m. The victim died from his injuries.
