Renegades host Pioneers in mini-football camp

by | Sep 29, 2024 | Sports

Players and coaches of the High Prairie Renegades and the Peace River Pioneers pose for a group photo after the two high school football teams held a mini camp Sept. 6-7 in High Prairie.

South Peace News

The High Prairie Renegades hosted a mini camp Sept. 6-7 with the Peace River Pioneers as both teams geared up for the regular season in the Alberta High School 9-a-Side Football League.

“We had a great turnout of players building skills and confidence on the field and great sportsmanship and relationships with players on the other team,” says Renegades’ head coach Kristin Rich.

“It was a great start to the season and a great way to practise the new 9-a-side game and rules for the upcoming season.”

The Renegades play their first season in the Alberta High School 9-a-Side Football League while the Pioneers enter their third season.

“It was a great event and players on both teams enjoyed the camp,” Rich says.

“This is something Pioneers’ head coach Mark Owens and I, along with other coaches want to do annually as a league and teams to launch the season.”

Organizers thank Freson Bros, The Boondocks and Muneeb’s for sponsoring food.
