The owner of Amiro’s Steak House is the new chair of the High Prairie and Area Chamber of Commerce.
Barry Sharkawi ran unopposed at the chamber’s annual general meeting June 27.
Past president Jennifer Zatko, TD Canada Trust manager, and vice chair Tina Ostermeier, O’s Treats co-owner, did not seek re-election. When the call for nominations came forward, Sharkawi accepted after no one else expressed a desire to serve in the position.
Marigold Enterprises’ Joanne Miller accepted the position of vice- chair. Jeff Burgar, representing South Peace News, continues as treasurer.
Linda Cox of the Lesser Slave Lake Economic Alliance, and Town of High Prairie Councillor Michael Long will serve as directors.
The chamber can have up to eight directors and is looking to fill the positions soon.
Dates and times for future meetings will be determined by the new executive and will be posted in South Peace News.
