It had to be planned!
When High Prairie’s Cynthia Deynaka won a shopping spree in The Grocery People’s Fresh Giveaway contest she was limited to $500 in product.
After she raced around the High Prairie Super A store for 61 seconds filling her shopping cart on June 20, her grand total was $498.40.
Deynaka, who was very nervous before the start of the spree, is attending university this coming fall and stocked up on items she might need. She attended the store one day earlier to plan for the spree.
Store manager Joe Boucher graciously added 11 seconds onto Deynaka’s 50-second time limit as outlined in contest rules. The starting point was in the store’s northwest corner. Deynaka began filling her cart there, then proceeded east towards the meats and the freezers to the right in the aisle. Her last item was a Keurig coffee maker – just perfect for a university student.
TGP’s contest invited customers to shop at the store. They were given stickers to fill out cards. When a card was filled, it was entered into the draw. Each of TGP’s 15 stores had one shopping spree winner.
Other prizes were up for grabs including a vacation, a $10,000 cash prize winner, groceries for one year, Kitchenaid mixer, a Samsung Galaxy Tablet and $25 grocery gift cards. Local winners of the gift cards were Shirleen Okimaw, Liz Siegfries, Peter Blacha, Norma Guttinger, Diana Shybunia and Lisa Zabolotniuk.
A 10 per cent discount for all customers June 15 ended the promotion.
