Hi! This is Nevaeh, bringing you our school news from Joussard.
To start with, we are so happy with all of the work that is being done on our new parking lot lately. We are hoping that it can be done this fall and we won’t have to keep walking to our school from the Joussard Hall.
After talking to the kindergarten kids, I found out that they have been busy making pizza. What a delicious way to learn! They also said that they are learning all about alphabet letters and even making letters with their bodies!
In Grade 1, our students are enjoying learning about upper and lower case letters using their new iPads. Somehow, if you do the same work on a computer as you would do on paper, it seems like more fun.
Grade 2 students are reporting that they loved meeting Sparky the Fire Dog. He helped them learn about fire safety and prevention.
Students in Grade 3 also enjoyed meeting Sparky and gave him lots of high fives! They have been learning how to use atlases to find information about Canada.
In Grade 4, our students have been working on fractions in Math. They reported that Bill Wilcox, aka Mr. Bill, subbed in their class and taught them how to play Scooter Tag. This was loads of fun!
Grade 5 students are learning all about rounding numbers up and down in Math. And, in P.E., they are playing basketball.
And in Grade 6, my class, we have been studying trees and forests. We will be showing what we learned with a Google slide show or a poster.
Everyone enjoyed the visit of the Joussard Fire Department. We learned all about how to check our smoke detectors to see if they work and also to look at the dates on them and see if they need replacing. We learned how important it is to have a plan, to have a meeting place and to stay low to avoid smoke. Hopefully, we’ll never have to practice what we learned!
Thanks again for reading my report. Please check in with me next week.
