A Sucker Creek woman has received a $4,000 University of Alberta scholarship based on her commitment and dedication to her programs at the University of Alberta in Edmonton.

Wendy Moostoos is currently a Grade 6 student teacher at Joussard School.

“I am pleased to inform you that you have been offered an Indigenous Careers Award for the 2015-2016 academic year,” wrote the university’s student financial support department. “Congratulations on this significant achievement! Please find your attached official scholarship offer letter with further details and information.”

Moostoos is a current double major student. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Education degree, as well as Native Studies, where she hopes to attain a second degree.

“The award is also based on my degree programs that assist high-demand career outcomes in Alberta,” says Moostoos.

“Your achievements embody our values of discovery and learning and we hope you will continue your academic journey at the University of Alberta,” writes Fiona Halbert, assistant registrar, student financial support.

Moostoos adds the support of her parents, Ron Prince and Linda Willier, and family, was crucial in attaining her scholarship.
