Peace River town council met Aug. 10, and were updated on recent costs and tax collection.

Interim director Roxane Guindon told council 95 per cent of levied property taxes had been collected as of June 30, including accounts enrolled in monthly payment plans.

The department is also evaluating possible cost recovery for spring melt-related expenses through the provincial Hazard Assistance and Resilience Program.

The financial variance report showed tax-supported operations with a nominal $79,000 deficit before a scheduled $2 million year-end reserve transfer. Emergency management expenses related to the spring melt were about $160,000, while contracted services in Public Works were about $370,000 over budget because of heavy snow-clearing operations during the 2025-26 winter.
