2016 is said by some that, when it comes to weather, this is a year of East vs West.
If it’s rain and more rain in the West, it’s hot sun in the East. If it’s dry and drier, like earlier this year in the West, it’s wet and wetter in the East.
That’s the way it’s been so far. Weather experts (really, are there such?) say weather patterns should return to normal after a warmer and drier fall season following this wetter than usual summer.
All we can say is, don’t put your money on that one. But, maybe the past few days, and the forecast for coming days, are an indicator of what is coming. Lots and lots of sun as summer enters the final stretch.
And that, with school less than three weeks away!

We have to say, it is all quite wonderful to watch so many sports in the Olympics. But there are some, like diving and gymnastics, that absolutely take your breath away. Simply incredible watching the skills of so many of these atheletes.
Heck, here they are doing triple cantilevers with reverse galooper and a double layback. Well, you know what we mean. Here they are doing something really complicated. And we can barely get off the sofa to get another pop from the fridge. Sheesh.
Here’s hoping many young people are seeing a part of the world out there they really didn’t know existed, since the Olympics only come around once every four years. Wow.

Speaking of the Olympics, we were really curious about that green- stained water in the Olympic pools.
You know, here the pools are green, people are saying it is probably algae growth, and in the pictures, we can see painted lines in the bottom of the pools.
Hmmmm. We say that because our local lakes are quite green. There is lots of algae. And heck, we can barely see a metre into the water most days, most parts of our lakes.
As it turns out, it is algae in the pools. But apparently not in concentrations so far to seriously reduce visibility. That was last week. Now, it is said that mixups in chemical treatment of the pools did allow algae to grow. Plus, the concentrations are indeed threatening swimmer’s visibility for those used to seeing where the competition is in the races.
So, pools are being drained and water swapped which should mean water is much cleaner this week. Good news for Olympics. In our Alberta lakes, well, it’s just bloom as usual as summer motors on.

Motoring on too is good ol’ Mike Duffy.
Mikey, was let off the hook after a court ruling he did nothing wrong in claiming living and other expenses as a Canadian Senator. And taking that ruling to heart, Duffy is once again filling out expense forms left and right.
Just goes to show you, once you slurp at the public pork trough, it’s almost impossible to stop. As bad as, or worse than, trying to kick a drug or booze habit.

Two elderly ladies meet at the clothing store after not seeing each other for some time. After inquiring about each other’s health, one asked how the other’s husband was doing.
“Oh! Ted died last week. He went out to the garden to dig up a cabbage for dinner, had a heart attack and dropped down dead right there in the middle of the vegetable patch!”
“Oh dear! I’m very sorry,” replied her friend, “What did you do?”
“Opened a can of peas instead.”
