High Prairie town council is making a $500 contribution to one of the holiday season’s celebrations.

Council agreed at its Nov. 8 meeting to give $500 for the popular High Prairie Native Friendship Centre’s Elder’s Banquet.

The centre’s program co-ordinator, Bev L’Hirondelle, wrote council Oct. 18 with the request to help fund the 36th annual celebration.

“All Elders hold a respected and revered place within our community structure, and this event is held in their honour because they have so timelessly contributed so much to our society,” wrote L’Hirondelle.

The banquet will be held Dec. 10 at the Edmo Peyre Hall at the Stampede Grounds.
