It’s an issue no one seems to want to talk about.
High Prairie town council appears ready to ask for a meeting with the Alberta government and ask them point blank what they plan to do with the old hospital site.
Council asked the government last year what their plans were for the site after the new hospital opened. Since that has occurred, they have received no answer.
Councillor Brian Panasiuk has placed the matter on the agenda.
A report to council reads that the issue is “time sensitive” given the recent announcement of the funding for a new Northern Lakes College campus. The site would be one of the preferred – if not the most preferred – location. Panasiuk wants every option available before a decision is reached on the campus’s new location.
Therefore, council debated at their meeting last night [July 25] whether to push the issue and ask for a meeting with the Alberta government.
The meeting was past deadline this week.
