Efforts continue to raise awareness and give the public a chance to participate in Truth and Reconciliation.
The High Prairie Children’s Centre is holding activities from 4-9 p.m. on Sept. 30 – Canada’s National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.
“On this day, we honour the lives lost and recognize the impact residential schools has left on our survivors, their families, and their communities,” reads a poster promoting the day.
Activities are similar to last year. An opening prayer with an Elder kicks off the day at 4 p.m., followed by a blanket exercise at 4:20 p.m. with Jamie Chalifoux and Connie Sabo.
An Every Child Matters Walk occurs at 6 p.m. followed by supper with stew and bannock at 6:30 p.m. back at the centre. Guest speakers follow at 7 p.m.
There are also activities for children, a poetry/colouring contest and door prizes.
Secure Energy is co-sponsoring the event.
