An extension of a water line and sewer line at Joussard will soon be connected.
At a regular meeting May 31, Big Lakes County council awarded a tender for the Joussard trunk line extension east to Highway 2 to Glen Armstrong Construction Ltd. of Peace River. Their bid of $478,104.38 was the lowest of 10 tenders.
“Hopefully, it will be finished before the fall,” says Vic Abel, director of public works.
Staff appreciates that the extension will enhance service and life in the hamlet.
“Installing a new water and sewer line will increase the value of all property and will be more attractive for tourists and developers,” says Ted Laszczak, director of utilities and safety.
Cost of engineering and construction has been allocated in the 2016 capital budget.
Joussard Councillor Ed Podollan noted the range of bids was wide, with the highest price at $1.6 million.
