Smoky River Family and Community Support Services has welcomed new community programmer Tianna Todd.

Smoky River Family and Community Support Services is pleased to welcome and introduce its newest employee, community programmer Tianna Todd.

Todd says she is excited to be in her new role and is excited to help provide some interesting programming to people in the community.

“My position with Smoky River FCSS is community programmer, but I am also in office everyday to help with any forms or any other help you may need,” explains Todd.

“I chose to apply for this position because I felt I needed to make a change in my own life while somehow contributing to the community still and able to feel a sense of home where I work.”

In her short tenure, Todd has been instrumental in helping to get some exciting programs going at FCSS, including the STEP program, Teddy Bear Triage, Art in the Park, and many others.

“My main role here at FCSS is to get the community together and interact with one another,” she says.

“I plan programs and events for different age groups in the community; my first big event I planned was Seniors Week.”

Todd is a retired Red Seal Hairstylist. She says she was in the industry for about 10 years prior to hanging up her apron.

“It was my passion for so long, but now as I grow in FCSS, I see all I wanted was to help others,” she says.

“As a hairstylist you would often get clients that would need someone to listen to them or simply needing someone to find them some resources for help. This is what we do here at FCSS, we help people get the support they need.”

Todd says she feels FCSS is important in the community because it helps people feel more connected. She urges people to go in the office at any time during the week with help filling out government forms or to help connect you to the right people for any issues you may have.

“My goals for joining FCSS are simply to feel a sense of connected community as well as a sense of home, and so far, my goal is coming along quite nice,” says Todd.

She says summer is halfway through, so their programming is slowing down a little, but that doesn’t mean their team is done. Still to come is Water Wars on Aug. 6 at the Spray Park, NERF Wars on Aug. 17, and Science in the Park on Aug. 11. She says she will wrap up the summer with Last Splash of Summer on Aug. 21.

“Tianna has been a great addition to our team,” says FCSS director Crystal Tremblay.

“She has the potential to do great things for our region.”
